Reviews: The Good, The Bad, and the Stupid
So, I was looking through some of the reviews that I've recieved recently. Some made me smile so wide, I thought that my face would stay like that. Some really annoyed me, with the rudeness and the fact that some don't realize that I have a real life, and don't have all the time in the world to write FF's. If I could, I wouldn't work two jobs to get myself through school. But that isn't an option right now. So, I have to put writing on the back burner. Because my education is the most important thing. Even though I would love to put FF on a fron burner, and write everyday or at least more frequently, I can't.
But I can share some reviews. Some are so sweet, some are so funny, and some will make you scratch your head. But I appreciate most peoples efforts.
i haven't gotten thru half this story yet but I couldn't stop laughing at this line - i even called my man at work just to crack up again. he was a little confused as to why i was rolling, but hey, a girl's gotta have her laughs, right?
"Gilmore Crematorium, you choke em, we smoke em!" Lorelai's cheerful voice rang out through the phone.
TOTALLY PRICELESS. (My mom didn't think it was funny when I answered HER call like that though...)
Honestly, this one made my day. I love that line, it's probably my fav in the whole chapter. It popped into my head one day, and I knew that I had to use it. It was totally Lorelai. But not too many people seemed to notice it. Most were too preoccupied with the Troryness of the chapter to see that little literary gem. I don't blame them, it was a chapter that was all about crawling inside of everyone's minds, and a little getting to know Lulu and Mollie.
oh, woman, you have me hooked. i see the last update was 5-19... that's been a few weeks now... is there another one coming any time soon??
it's very rare for me to love OCs as much as I love canon characters, but your brood has certainly grabbed my heart. way to go. PLEASE update soon!
Honestly, when I started reading this, I started to get a little annoyed. I hate it when people start pointing out that I'm not writing enough. I know that I'm not. I hate that I can't write more, but I, unlike so many other writers, don't just write for the hell of it. I take pride in what I write, and I don't just post to post. I post because I came up with the very best chapter that I could, and I want to share it with everyone.
But then, she redeemed herself. I love that she loves Lulu, Graham and Mollie. Because they are all based on people that I know and love. And a little bit of me is in each one. That's why I love them so much. And why I love when other people love them.
oh no! =( tristan don't think that! haha! ;) luv the title and the showing of it! tristan and rory! so cute! i luv how u portray them here! seems more innocent and lite than most, and yay for m finding that quote and u having it found and yeah, lulu and mollie and lulu and emily! and mollie
Yeah, I love my title too. I think what I love most is that I'm sticking it to Logan and he's not even in the story. (Yet...) Plus, she is praising M, which is always a plus in my book. I love when people like my friends. Even when they don't really get what the hell I'm talking about. But she's another one who loves Lulu and Mollie! So she's a major plus in my book!
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE. WILL YOU JUST PLEASE UPDATE SOME DAY!
May I just say that I hate getting stuff like this? I mean come on, people. I don't need you to tell me that I'm not doing a good enough job for you. May I also say that these are the kind of reviews that really make me not want to update? I don't want to feel like I'm being cajoled and annoyed into writing. It's not fun when it's like that. And can you believe this is an anonymous review? And guess what they posted it under... UPDATE.

Again, with the anonymous reviews that seem threatening. Why can't people just be happy with what they get? Why do they have to badger me to do more? It's different when M and A do it, because I know that they love me anyway. But sending me an anonymous reveiw to update, especially one like these, is doing the opposite of what they think it is.
And now, for what you are all waiting for, the stupid...

What do you think The Last is? Even though it is a prequel, it's still in the sequel category. Come on people, lets think outside the box a little!
This is one I got awhile ago, but it still makes me scratch my head trying to figure out what the hell she's talking about. It doesn't describe my story at all, or my Tristan, or any of my characters really. Plus, it's like one long sentance, and it's got only one or two commas in the whole thing! It's quite possibly the stupidest review I've ever gotten, for the fact that it has nothing to do with my story, my characters, and she even spelled Lorelai's name wrong! For someone makine such harsh, bold statements about characters, you better learn to spell their names right...
I don't think he have changed it's only with her rory will never understand him why he choose money but it's the way he is, strong he know what he want and he wanted more money more power, for the world he is happy but to roy his only weakness he share his real feeling but I don't think he is all soft, nice. he can be cruel but I don't think it il separat them. opposite attract and rory will fallen I think.I had always think if they don't be attract to each other they will not bantering like that. me I think lorelei will not like tristan becase he is dangerous for rory he is a bit like christopher. he live in a cruel world and learnto be the best in this world, he is a king, good looking, charmer, player and also clever. But he is not nice he learn to not show feeling don't share because its weakness he is passionate and obtain what he want he is not nice he is a eader use to have power fortune and maybe he love that it's what he is so rory will suffer he can burned her if she is also passionate like her mother and contrary to lorelei he belongs to this world

The satisfaction of letting reviewers know that despite wanting to hear from them is to teach them that we actually want a satisfying review, not a ramble.

Hehe. Yeah, that last one was a head scratcher.
I should hope one of our reviews never makes your annoying list. I've never left an "Update or Die!" review. And you should be proud and ignore these things--because I can tell you that when you do update, not only is it worth whatever the wait is, it's an important stepping stone, well thought out and carefully crafted. And those of us that appreciate good writing appreciate that.
Besides, now we can delete anonymous reviews :)
And I should take my own advice, I know.
Here's to hoping you get more good and less ugly.
