is Fall Out Boy emo? My ASM was going on about how he isn't into emo, but he can't help but like them because their songs are just 'so darn catchy'. And he's my age. I asked him if he liked MmmBop too. :D

My friend H and I were having the exact same discussion on Friday, about whether FOB was Emo or not. It all sparked from Soul Meets Body playing on the Musack about a trillion times that day, and Death Cab for Cutie is definately emo. We couldn't really come up with an answer that was any good, since their beats and rhythms and tempos are all upbeat, but if you take out the actual music portion of the song and just read the lyrics, they are very emo. We decided to just shelf the convo and pick it up another day, because we spent an hour chatting about it at work while sitting on the back counter waiting for the clock to read 21:00.
