Sin City
So, last night, Nicole and I went to see Sin City. We were supposed to see it this weekend, but the flooding and the rain kind of drowned our plans... (I only think I'm funny so bear with me) So we ended up seeing it tuesday. I was going to object, but then thought better of it. GG was a repeat, and while I love Miss Celine more than I can say (I'm bringing her into a future story, it's already planned out!) I figured that I was still going to see Rory, so it wouldn't be a totally GG-less tuesday.
I'm not sure whether or not I liked the movie. Nicole hated it. I mean H-A-T-E-D it. It was definately unique. I loved the style and the look of the movie. And I loved that they did it in black and white, and accentuated it with color. (Mostly red, for all that blood) And the actors were all good. Alexis was good, except that every single time she was talking to her mom, I was thinking of Lorelai, and I don't know what she would think of her daughter as a hooker.
It was really, really violent. Like we're talking making a drinking game out of the violence violent. You know, someone gets shot, drink a shot. Someone gets a limb hacked off, drink two shots. Someone gets shot in the genitals, drink the whole bottle. And Elijah Wood was absolutely the scariest part of that movie. He never said a word, but damn, he was freaking terrifying.
So, if you can handle gore and stuff, go see the movie. If you can't... well, I'd probably go see Robots or something. It's not rated R for the whores, although there are quite a few of them. I have to say, my favorite part was my Clive (Owen of course) I love him, he was great, although he lost a little bit of the sexy quotient without the sexy accent. (Not much, since you still see him in his underwear! Happy dance!) And man, is he a not good guy.
Not that anyone in this movie is good. This is not a good vs. evil movie. This is an evil vs. evil movie, which is a concept that I liked. There wasn't exactly a group that you were rooting for, but you did see a lot of the badder guys take the fall.
I still can't figure out what exactly Josh Hartnett was doing in the film. He was in two scenes, and it was never explained what his role was. If anyone knows what he was supposed to be, let me know. Also, I'd like to know what others thought of the movie. I'm still on the like/dislike fence.
